getting close..

Well guys i am getting close, sprayed a couple of panels to test out the color this week and was very happy with the results. red is a great color to spray really covers well as to the Wimbledon white on the previous project. i was really happy to see no sanding scratches coming threw the red so all my hard work wet sanding has paid off.
still not sure if i want to add a clear coat on top, any thoughts out there? the red on its own dose polish up but the clear makes it pop...
hopefully this week i can post some pics of a red alfa gtv!

had a touch of orange peel effect but will polish out okay, tested a corner..

just finished masking her up again, another job down..

nice combi resto out the front of work last week..

and the winner is..

yes i know alfa red......how boring but sooo nice with this car.

well all the final primer has been sanded with 600 and 800 wet, very happy with the results..just put it out of the way for the moment to give me some room for the doors and bonnet.

bonnet and boot in high build primer ready for blocking.

both weren't to bad until you hit them with the long block.

ground down the inside of the doors and threw some expoy primer on them, also repaired the large cracks in this doors lower hinge.

after knocking back three coats of high build primer it came good..

the boot is now in primer but needed some attention on the outer lip.

alfa red here we come..

houston we have primer..

Well guys after some long nights in the cave we have pushed it to primer stage. i am so tired at the moment but am really satisfied with the results. three to four coats went on today with out to much trouble, just didn't fuss over everything this time just layed it out..left it out in the sun all day to bake hard. just did a test section with 400, 600 and a little bit of 800 wet sandpaper and was really happy with the finish.
looking forward to the next few nights of sanding just love this part of the job, its really neat seeing it come together after so many hours of cutting and grinding.
once the body is sorted i will wrap up it up in plastic and move on to the doors and hood, so maybe you will see some color in a month or so, fingers crossed..
                                                           thanks for watching....
