vroom vroom..

What an interesting week of motor mechanical self education, with the budget shot i dived in and worked out alot of my own problems. its always scary trying to do something for the first time you think your going to wreck everything but after reading the manual back to front you start to get how things work. i finally worked out that i had the distributor to retarded so i moved it round a few degrees and she started first go.. fuel was flowing and a bit of tuning and wow she settled down to a nice idle. had a lot of smoke at the start but let it heat up and clear it self out. next was the brakes, had a hard pedal so i started with the booster but after taking it apart it looked all okay so put it back in and moved on to bleeding the system. all of this is completely new to me so just took my time and worked through it. finally turn up to be the front right caliper piston was seized so took it in yesterday to my local brake place and had it service. they did a nice job too. put it on tonight and got the wife to help me bleed it and walla brakes were fixed, so couldn't wait anymore warmed her up and took her around the block for a first spin[the car i mean]..
was very pleased with the drive , brakes worked and gear box was not bad..but it still needs some fine tuning. i have made a very short video , I'm not one for the camera but what the hell.. looks like we might get to the gorge this christmas.                    thanks for watching..

just a blink..

Well cant believe were back to were we started, feels like for ever when your in the thick of it and just a blink at the end, isn't that life in general.. had some trouble with the doors as was expected but a little help from a friend and some pushing and scratching they come out okay. door lines are pretty close and all handles and catchers working sweet. could not open or close before without great force, how people live with such difficulties makes laugh. but to their defence all the adjustment screws were rounded out, off or seized..so it was a huge job to get right in the end. also put some new door catchers in not to difficult. only problem with the door are the new door rubbers, no way they are going to close with them on. going to find a smaller seal as i only keep the top half and cut the bottoms off. really no compromise if you want the doors to look straight. thanks to vintage customs for their door seal vids..such a great help when your stuck. check out his you tube site http://www.youtube.com/user/vintagecustoms?feature=results_main
i have moved on from the body work to the engine...arrr another painful exercise . fuel wasn't flowing so after some testing at both ends of the fuel line and turned out to be a blocked fuel sender in the tank. photo says it all! last night set the timing again and checked all plugs and got some bang and pop but no go. drained battery again so on the charger but just didn't have time today or tonight so may be tomorrow.. will hopefully put a video of the girl running good or bad soon...
